How the LSA Works

The Limpsfield School Association (LSA) is your school’s parent and carer-powered fundraising team. Yes, there’s a formal constitution. Yes, we’re a registered charity. But at heart, the LSA is a group of people who care deeply about making Limpsfield even better — for our kids and for each other.

This page is here to strip away the jargon, spotlight the value add behind the roles, and show you just how easy it is to get involved.

There are 3 key LSA roles that liase with the school and set the overall direction...each of these positions might be shared (co-led) to ease the load or help a new person ease in.

The Chair – The Guiding Light

Our Chair is the calm, confident heart of the LSA. They keep things moving forward — chairing meetings, helping the group make decisions, and making sure we stay on mission (and in line with our charitable obligations).

Big-picture thinker. Good listener. Gets stuff done.

The Secretary – The Organised Powerhouse

Meet the magic behind the meetings. The Secretary helps plan and organise our meetings, takes clear notes, tracks actions, and keeps communication flowing between everyone.

They’re also the one who keeps our records shipshape, files our reports, and makes sure our decisions are all properly documented. Basically: our unsung hero of efficiency.

The Treasurer – The Financial Wizard

Our Treasurer makes sure every penny raised is used wisely. They manage the bank account, record every transaction, and help us budget for events. They also help us stay compliant with charity regulations.

It’s not about spreadsheets for the sake of spreadsheets — it’s about turning cakes, discos, and raffles into real value for our school.

Committee Members – The Movers, The Makers, The Magic Behind the Moments

These are the people who plot, plan and run the majority of the LSA events. They also vote on where and how we spend our funds. They’re often the first to lend a hand with events and behind-the-scenes planning.

You don’t need special skills - you just need to care about the school community and be willing to muck in.

Class Reps - The Connection Point, The Cheerleader.

These are the kind of people who like to know what’s going on — and helping others stay in the loop. Friendly, encouraging, and willing to help make school life that little bit easier and more fun for everyone.

The role can owned by one person, or shared. There's no set 'rulebook' but typically includes sharing key information, weekly reminders, drumming up volunteer support and running more informal class socials.

A key perk of the role is that reps have first refusal on activities which require volunteers. These are often really popular and given the key role reps play in supporting the LSA, we think it's only fair you are rewarded for this.

Finally, your dreams of being a Christmas elf or herding children on school trips can come true!

Whilst acting as a Class Rep is a distinct role to LSA Committee membership, you can probably imagine it's really helpful if our Class Reps are also Committee Members - giving them full visibility and voting rights.

Everyone else...

You don’t have to hold a title to make a difference. Want to help with a specific event? Got an idea for a new fundraiser? Just fancy running the tombola or designing a poster? You’re in!

We welcome and celebrate all contributions — big, small, one-off, or ongoing.

To the dads, the grandparents, the foster parents, the carers

We want — and need — diversity in our team. It can’t always fall to the same faces.

Whether you’re a dad, grandparent, carer, or a new parent in Reception — we need your energy, your voice, and your ideas.

A strong LSA reflects the full richness of our school community.

Why It Matters!

Every event we run, every penny we raise, helps give our children more. More learning tools. More play equipment. More enrichment. More joy.

Let’s continue growing the LSA into something that makes us all proud.

Have an idea? Want to give the LSA some feedback? Get in touch with us below...

If you include your name and email, we can come back to you directly. If you prefer to make an anonymous submission, you can leave these fields blank.

Where possible we will respond to all feedback directly. We also aim to provide a response to collated feedback twice each academic year.
